Student Council
Students at Rosemont are interested and involved. Elected student representatives on the student council take their positions seriously, knowing that they will be accountable to their peers throughout their term. They also take on roles of real responsibility as prefects in lower year classes and serve as excellent role models to younger students.

This section gives the outgoing head girl an opportunity to share her thoughts at the end of her term, and the incoming head girl to lay out the council’s platform for the year to come. Check back regularly for updates from the 2008-2009 student council on what’s to come in the next school year.

By: Head Girl on behalf of 2008-2009 student council
Building a strong sense of school spirit, uniting our students with teachers, and promoting an overall positive outlook in the school are some of student council’s ambitious goals for the 2008-2009.
Student council consists of five girls who also have roles as class prefects. Over the year we are working to meet the above goals in a number of ways.
To develop a positive outlook among the student body, we will work to encourage a genuine respect for all teachers and fellow students.
We have a strong foundation to build on. We believe as a school Rosemont has a lot to offer. Our school is unique in many ways, different from other schools, and we would like to see girls getting the most out of their time here and reaching their full potential. One of the ideas that the student council of 2007-2008 proposed for 2008-2009 is dividing the student body into four houses. The idea behind grouping students into houses is that it develops our team-work skills.
Points would be lost or awarded on account of behaviour in classes and general attitude towards school life. For example points could be deducted for lateness, or a failure to complete assigned work in time. On the other hand they would be awarded to houses whose members were helpful and co-operative. At the end of the year the house with the most points will win the school’s silver plate – a gift from the 2008 graduates.
In striving to develop stronger friendships and school ties among students, we are promoting a variety of school activities and events in which students can have fun in a safe environment and get to know each other better.
We are also using a bit of creative and innovative thinking to put together a few ideas for organising a range of fundraisers for the school, and charities we’d like to support.
