Maths Week 2022

This week was Maths Week 2022 and there were numerous fun and challenging activities.  On Monday lunchtime there were Countdown challenges and prizes in Maths Club.  There were daily puzzles set up outside Ms Delaney’s classroom and on the maths noticeboard. There was a puzzle wall on the 1st floor where students could post their own maths problems and win prizes.  A 24 puzzle was placed on the ground floor corridor – where students had to make 24 using the digits on the right-hand side of the number plate and mathematical operations.  TYs set up Kahoot quizzes for different year groups, they were conducted during maths classes. TYs set up bingo on Thursday lunchtime for 1st – 3rd years, and a treasure hunt for 5th and 6th years during Friday lunchtime.  In addition, Maths classes had lots of activities taking place throughout this week, including whist, puzzles, relay races, and Maths Week TV. Many thanks to all our fabulous Maths teachers.

TY’s Cycle

This week the TYs went to Phoenix Park for a cycling treasure hunt. The girls really enjoyed the day out and they loved the treasure hunt element. The weather was also great which made the day more enjoyable.

Webwise Youth Advisory Panel

Congratulations to Beatriz (TY) who was successful in her application for the Webwise Youth Advisory Panel. Beatriz’s enthusiasm and dedication to raising awareness of online safety amongst her peers were very clear from her application and they are delighted to have her on board for the academic year.

The Youth Panel consists of 35 secondary students from across Ireland who want to stand up and speak out against online safety abuses. Opportunities are provided to have students’ views heard at national and European level so that young people can have a real say on the issues that affect them. The role of the Youth Panel is to provide Webwise with views and opinions of children and young people’s use of new online technologies and to participate in the concept testing process of developing our resources e.g. Connected, Be in Ctrl, etc. The youth panel will also advise on priorities for awareness-raising activities and give feedback on awareness-raising campaigns e.g. #TheFullPicture campaign: www.webwise.ie/thefullpicture. More information about what being a member of the Youth Advisory Panel means can be found here: www.webwise.ie/news/youth/what-is-the-webwise-youth-advisory-panel

Hockey Pitch Launch

We were delighted with the official launch of our new hockey pitch, in partnership with Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Community Council.  As the sun shone like summertime! With thanks to Cathaoirleach Mary Hanafin and Ruairi O’Dulaing, Senior Parks Superintendent for DLR, along with their teams – staff, parents, and students all enjoyed your visit.

As part of our 6th year traditions, Tuesday and Wednesday 11th and 12th October 2022, the 6th year overnight retreat took place at Lismullin Conference Centre, Navan, Co. Meath. It was a marvellous opportunity for the girls to reflect, discuss, pray, rest and exercise!
